Take Care of Yourself FIRST

Man performing self-care

What We Think Self-Care Is

The term “self-care” has been hijacked!  Mainstream media would have you believe that self-care means splurging on a mani-pedi, taking a golf trip with your friends, sneaking away for a massage after a really challenging time, or enjoying some new luxuriously scented bath  products.  It COULD mean that… however at its core it’s soooooo much more!  It is not just for those with a few extra bucks to spend!

The quality of your self-care practice has nothing to do with how many expensive beauty products in your cabinet, the total bill on an extravagant trip, or the number of pricey handbags or outfits you have in your closet “because you deserve it”.  Media has HIJACKED the term so that they can sell you stuff. Self-care is for everyone!

What Self-Care Truly Means

Self-care means clearly speaking your boundaries to ensure they remain in tact when challenged.  It means finally booking that long over due dental appointment… AND making time to actually go to it.  It means saying NO to the “opportunity” to attend a party when all you really want to do is take a long hot bath or read a good book…. or just don’t want to go.  It means asking for help when you need it… and accepting it from time to time when it’s offered.  Self-care means making sure your “cup is full”…you’ve made the things that fill you up a top priority…you’re handling the things that you’ve been tolerating… so that you get to show up as your best self in life.

When you care for yourself, you are your best self!  You have an unshakable inner strength.  You have vibrant energy to care for yourself and those around you.  You are fearlessly authentic in who you are at your core.  I’m not saying that challenges won’t arise. They will!  But when you’ve been practicing regular self-care you’re able to take aligned action toward your greatest and highest good with ease.

Here at Apex Filling it is important to us to show up as our best selves for our team and our customers!  Merry Christmas!!
